The HAM Project

Obesity is an issue which plagues the United States, and this condition is particularly prevalent among you in the South Bend community. Looking to combat this problem, researchers at the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture hope to study the correlation between a child’s living environment and their level of physical activity. While activity monitors are commercially available, these monitors cost upwards of $200, reducing the ability of these devices to be widely employed. In response to this need, the Howard Activity Monitoring group has developed a compact, wearable, cost-effective device that gathers activity and light data for this research.
